Rare Provisions is the storefront of L Ventures Fund I LLC, a luxury provisions research house. The “L” is for Luxury — and our research is the scholarship of the rare: we travel to find the world’s most extraordinary single-origin foods and document each one obsessively.
A saffron harvested at dawn on the Pampore plateau. A balsamic drawn from a twenty-five-year cask battery in Modena. A coffee micro-lot from one grower, one washing station, one season. For every provision we record the terroir, the producer, the method, and how to taste it — so the object arrives with its whole story.
We believe rarity is worth pursuing for its own sake: the flavor, the craft, the culture, the ritual of a remarkable thing on your table. That is the only kind of research we do — connoisseurship and provenance, never anything else.
Sourcing & standards
We buy small and we buy direct. Wherever we can, we work with a single grower, estate, or family house rather than a broker — the saffron farmer on the Pampore plateau, the acetaia in Modena, the roaster who keeps a micro-lot separate instead of blending it away. We source by the harvest, take only what a season yields, and pass on anything that doesn’t meet the grade. Every provision arrives with its field notes: where it came from, who made it, how it was made, and how to taste it. That documented provenance is the standard the whole house is built on.
